Maintaining the Spiritual High after Hajj

After performing Hajj, usually the very first question which pops up in one’s mind is that for how long will this spiritual high, last. Every pilgrim decides to practice all the preaching of Islam, but once they land back home, it does not seem that easy.
Shared under are a few points which will help you in maintaining that escalated level of spirituality:
  1. Be Practical and Stay Realistic:
One of the hadiths mentions that Allah likes those who are consistent in their actions (good deed), may them be a few. Remind yourself that you are a human being and you might not be able to maintain the same level of emotional and spiritual high after Hajj, therefore, you won’t be able to worship as enthusiastically as you used to during Hajj. So, stick to few small and manageable ones. Make sure that you do them sincerely and consistently. That’s what Allah wants from you.
  1. Stay Away from Sins:
Bear in mind that after being completely purified on Arafah, your clean soul identifies your new sins more easily. Remember, you would not stay that pure forever neither does Allah expects you to be. Allah knows the best of everything and he knows that all of mankind sins, yet, to him, the best kind is the one who repents and return to Allah. Realize that you might slip, but you should realize that you did wrong and repent immediately. This way, you can keep your soul as pure as possible, (Allah Willing). For the sins, you might commit and not realize (like hurting someone unintentionally) make a habit of saying astagfar and to ask for Allah’s forgiveness, every night before sleeping.
It is stated that Prophet (PBUH) used to make made astighfar 100 times a day! So, it is a Sunnah practice. Keep saying it and get rewards of following Sunnah in addition to getting your sins forgiven.
