Jannatul Maula:
Near Mosque Al Haram, on the way to Mina, there is a cemetery for the citizens of Makkah called Jannatul Maula or Al-Hajun. This cemetery is of imperative importance because it has the graves of Um-Al-Momeneen, Hazrat Khadija (R.A), Hazrat Qasim (R.A), Hazrat Asma Bint AbuBaker (R.A), Hazrat Abu-Talib (R.A), Hazrat Abdullah Bin Zubair (R.A), and other Ahl-e-Bait (members of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)’s family).
The cemetery is divided into two sections. One section comprises of old graves, while the other section is for the new graves where common people are buried. This cemetery is rated as the second most religiously significant cemetery, after Jannat-ul-Baqi.
Jabal-e-Noor:
Another must visit place during/ after performing Hajj/ Umrah is Jabal-e-Noor. The literal meaning of Jabal-e-Noor is The ‘Mountain of Light’. This mountain is located near Makkah. It is the same mountain which has Ghar-e-Hira (Cave Hira), where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received his first holy revelation from Allah (in Arabic language) through angel, Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S).
Jannat-ul-Baqi:
Located in Madinah, Jannat-ul-Baqi is the most respected and regarded graveyard, by Muslims. Most of the inspirational religious figures are resting peacefully in this cemetery. It contains the graves of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s companions, wives, daughters and other members of the family (Approximately around 10,000 Sahabahs are buried here as per Imam Malik (R.A).
This place is a must visit place during/ after performing Hajj/ Umrah because Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentioned it a few times. As cited in Sahi Muslim, Prophet of Allah (PBUH) said: "Peace be upon you, O abode of believers. What you were promised will come to pass tomorrow at a fixed time. We shall, Allah willing, soon join you. O Allah! Grant forgiveness to the people who are buried in Al-Baqi’ Al-Gharqad." (Muslim)
